Effective 21 September 2026. Supersedes all prior notices.

1. Scope

This notice describes the information collected by this website, which is operated by the Guild of Evil, an unincorporated nonprofit association organized under the laws of the State of Wisconsin. It applies to visitors, applicants and members. It does not apply to any other website, service or correspondence.

2. Information collected

2.1. From applicants using the membership petition form: the name supplied, the email address supplied, and the answers supplied to the questions presented on that form.

2.2. From applicants using the referral form: the name supplied, the monniker supplied, the email address supplied, the contact identifier and contact method supplied, the answers supplied to the questions presented on that form, and the referral code presented.

2.3. Where a form requires agreement to one or more governing documents, the following are recorded at the time of agreement: the complete text of each document as it stood at that time, a cryptographic digest of that text, the name typed as signature, the date and time, the network address from which the submission was made, and the browser identification string transmitted by the submitting device.

2.4. From members: the account name chosen, the password in hashed form, the configuration of the second authentication factor, the biographical text entered, the written contributions made, and the record of which other members' pages the member has elected to follow.

2.5. Of each message sent by the site: the recipient address, the subject line, the time, and whether the mail server accepted it. The body of such messages is not retained.

2.6. Automatically, in the course of operation: the network address and the time associated with failed authentication attempts, rejected authentication codes, and unrecognized referral codes. These records are used to identify and restrict abusive access.

3. Purpose of collection

3.1. To assess applications for membership.

5. Disclosure

5.1. Information is not sold, rented, exchanged or otherwise made available to any third party for any purpose.

5.2. Electronic mail sent by the site is transmitted through a mail server operated on the association's behalf.
